The library is a research facility housing the world's largest collection of works and materials by English poets Robert and Elizabeth Browning, assembled by Andrew Joseph Armstrong, longtime chair of the English department. One of the few buildings on campus to eschew the red brick Georgian mode, the library is a symmetrical neoclassical study in limestone with four grand rooms with coffered ceilings, columned niches, and rich materials.
