Terminating the north end of Library Mall (2005, Sasaki Associates, landscape architects) is the Hurley Administration Building, an outsized North Central Texan tribute to Independence Hall in Philadelphia. It is flanked on the east by the frequently expanded University Union (1949; 1965; 1976, Jarvis Putty Jarvis; 2013, Perkins + Will) and on the west by Willis Library (1970, Caudill Rowlett Scott). Along W. Highland Street the standout academic building is the assertive, three-story Business Leadership Building (2011, Polshek Partnership with Jacobs Engineering Group), where V-shaped steel struts carry the projecting fourth floor. Transitioning from listless neo-Georgian to aggressive Brutalism during the mid-1960s is the Radio, TV, Film, and Performing Arts Building (Speech and Drama Building, 1967, Caudill Rowlett Scott).
