Clarendon's centerpiece and most prominent vertical landmark is an office tower designed by a local postmodernist firm. They chose Michael Graves's Portland (Oregon) Public Services building (1979–1983) as their model. The design has the typical squat form, pyramidal top, and overscaled simplified details; unfortunately, neither the detailing nor the wit match the richness of Graves's original.
