Talkeetna has a mix of small wood-framed and log houses. One fine example of a log cabin is the Ole and Annie Dahl Cabin. Built the year they married, the house measures 21 feet by 27 feet and is constructed of round logs, chinked with cement and square notched and nailed at the corners. Notches cut out for the nail heads show particular attention to detail. The one-and-a-half-story building has a gable front; the shed-roofed porch, with its gable, is supported by saplings used as posts.
