A large and dramatic example of Rustic architecture brought into a suburban setting, the Chapel by the Lake features exposed log rafters, trusses, and walls. Most notable, though, is the large window behind the altar looking across Auke Lake to the Mendenhall Glacier, which must pose a special challenge to the minister. The Presbyterian church was built to a design by Juneau architects Harold Foss and Linn A. Forrest.
