This typical New Deal–era post office is notable for its lobby mural, Boardman Robinson's Colorado Stock Sale (1940). One of sixteen Colorado post office murals by the Federal Artists Project, it depicts a horse sale, focusing on the facial expressions of the buyers and sellers. In this last mural of a distinguished career, Robinson, then the director of the Broadmoor Art Academy in Colorado Springs, provided a splendid counterpoint to the many auto sales lots lining South Broadway.
