A contemporary county complex matches the white horizontal clapboard of the old Clear Creek County Courthouse (1868, John Fillius and J. G. Mahaney, builders), a two-story building across Argentine Street. The older courthouse was built as the Ohio Bakery and has now been recycled as a visitors' and community center. Next to the new courthouse is the stone jail (1883), containing two cells and a watchman's area behind the original iron padlock.
