This handsome red brick building is crisply decorated with light-colored stonework very similar to that on the town hall next door. The upper-story windows have stone trim carved with garlands, and the pilasters have carved stone block capitals. The large, ornate, dentiled and bracketed metal cornice has a central signature pediment. Like most other buildings constructed during Buena Vista's 1880s boom, it is Italianate in character. Inside what has been the Lariat Saloon since the 1930s, local cattle brands have been burned into the knotty pine wall paneling.
