A large iron dragon poking its head over 70-foot-high castle walls makes Custer County's most unusual building easy to find. Since 1969 Jim Bishop of Pueblo has been building this medieval-inspired stone castle, complete with gatehouse, arched openings, flying buttresses, towers, and a projected moat and drawbridge. Working without blueprints or architectural training. Bishop built with scavenged stone and decorated his castle with wrought iron from his father's ornamental iron shop in Pueblo.
