The sedate world of eastern men's clubs arrived in Denver with this six-story clubhouse of rough-faced pink sandstone and red brick. A sandstone basement and first floor support a flat facade with round window arches. Recessed spandrels between the second and third floors add horizontal emphasis to the paired brick arches. The 13th Street athletic facilities addition (1973, Rodney S. Davis) and the 14th Street addition (1984, Joel Croenewitt of James Sudler Associates) match the red brick and lines of the original but with Modernist minimalism. Across the street, at 1330 Glenarm Place, is another local landmark, the Denver Press Club (1925, Merrill H. and Burnham F. Hoyt), more notable for its history than its architecture.
