Ralph Adams Cram, a high-church Anglican and devotee of John Ruskin, became America's foremost champion of Gothic Revival churches. He designed St. Andrew's as a small, Perpendicular Gothic church on an L plan built of dark red Harvard brick with limestone lintels, tan brick stringcourses, and a slate roof. The interior, dominated by tall brick Gothic arches, has a timbered ceiling and diamond-paned windows with leaded amber glass and exterior wooden Gothic tracery. Works of art include a reredos by Albert Bryan Olsen and a statue of the Virgin by Margaret Buchanan.
