The Quality Hill Historic District displays a variety of styles and periods in its single-family and apartment houses. A cornerstone of the district is the Craig House (1914, Jacques Benedict?), 605 E. 9th Ave. (northeast corner of Pearl St.), a trim, two-story town house that borrows casually from Classical Revival styles with a tiled hipped roof and broad, overhanging eaves above a dentiled cornice. The Granada, 607–615 East 10th Avenue, and the Cardenas, 707–715 East 10th Avenue, four-story apartment buildings designed by Walter Rice and dating from 1925, flaunt ornament loosely based on Moorish and Spanish Colonial designs, including tile pent roofs, iron balconies, curvilinear parapets, and arched bays whose white plaster contrasts dramatically with the red brick walls.
