Chicago architect Harry Weese, a noted Modernist, designed this L-shaped house in a meadow overlooking the Gold Peak ski runs. Asked to build a vacation home that could comfortably sleep twenty-five, Weese, who also designed the Armstrong House in Vail, departed from Vail's usual styles with a boxy composition of vertical red cedar siding reminiscent of mining town structures. Exterior facades employ white trim to highlight rectangular windows, bays, and balconies. The outdoors is brought into the design with a double deck, skylights, a two-story south window, and pillow-level sliding windows.
