Former president Gerald Ford's home is typical of many in the Beaver Creek Valley in displaying considerable individuality while meeting the community's design guidelines. It and neighboring homes were described in the October 1988 issue of Snow Country magazine: “Often massive in scale and borrowing selectively from the traditions of Alpine architecture, the homes of Beaver Creek are unique in American ski resort architecture, most of them costing in excess of a million dollars to build on mountain-side land that has been rationed as carefully as Beverly Hills homesites.”
