The Colorado College, opened in 1874 as a Congregational school, has the largest endowment and the best academic reputation of Colorado's four-year colleges. The senior building on the compact campus is The Gothic Revival Cutler Hall (see below). The styliistic range also includes Palmer Hall (1903, Andrews, Jacques and Rantoul), 1025 N. Cascade Avenue (NR), an imposing exercise in the Romanesque Revival style with rough-faced sandstone covering a steel frame; Bemis Hall (1908, Maurice Biscoe), 920 North Cascade, a Tudor Revival dormitory with steep-pitched dormers and gables; and the angular Modernist Tutt Library (1962, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill; 1980, addition, Carlisle B. Guy and Associates), the largest building on campus.
