Michael Zoharkov, a carpenter-priest, designed and supervised the construction of this frame Eastern Orthodox church on the Andrew Trojanovich farm near Calhan. The church replaced an earlier St. Mary's (1905), now a nearby ruin and cemetery on a lonely hilltop. The new clapboard church has an open-front bell tower and a matching cupola centered on the roof, both crowned by large Orthodox crosses, recalling a distant but never forgotten Slovak homeland.
