Medical Office (Community House)

-A A +A
Community House
1929. 129 E. Kansas Ave.

A later version of the settlement houses that provided shelter, activities, and social services, this handsome structure is sheathed in beige wire-cut brick. It has blind round arches above the second-story windows and bracketed canopies over the entries. The facade has a bay topped by a second-story balcony. A flat roof, angled corners, and streamlined stone banding give a modern jauntiness to what is now a medical office.
