Roberto's Restaurant (First Christian Church)

-A A +A
First Christian Church
1890, The Reverend John Stevens. 400 E. Main St. (southeast corner of Walnut St.)

Allegedly designed and built by the pastor, a stonemason, this became the church for a Spanish-speaking Presbyterian congregation in 1922 and later a warehouse. In the 1970s it was converted to a restaurant. The church combines Romanesque Revival and Queen Anne details and uses local sandstone to advantage in walls skillfully rounded at the corners, stone diapered trim, and stone scrollwork.
