Las Animas County Courthouse

The courthouse, a Beaux-Arts monument of Bedford, Indiana, limestone with creamy terracotta trim, occupies a full-block site. Beneath a roof-top balustrade, two-story Ionic columns dominate a three-story facade. The full basement emerges along the bottom of the hilly site on the north side, where the main entrance lies. Inside, white marble walls, ornate plaster trim, gilded iron stair railings, and golden oak wood-work survive, as does a mural depicting local history, painted by Angelo di Benedetto.
