James V. Dexter developed this resort on the south side of the Twin Lakes. The Inter-Laken Hotel (1880) is a two-story log building, cruciform in plan, with board-and-batten facing on the north facade and an imposing corbeled brick chimney. A hexagonal outhouse (1880s) has six stalls numbered to correspond to rooms in the hotel. Other structures on the site include a single-story building for servants' quarters, with rooms arranged along a central hall, and a hewn log barn with a door and hayloft at each end. The hewn log Dexter Summer House (1895) has a mansarded second floor topped by an enclosed observation cupola, flanked by two corbeled chimneys. A mansarded veranda with decoratively trimmed posts extends around all four sides, and the interior is grandly furnished in walnut and bird's-eye maple.
