A 50-by-30-foot hewn log schoolhouse with a hip-roofed open bell cupola and rear brick chimney commemorates efforts to civilize the wildest corner of Colorado. The school housed Saturday night dances and Sunday morning church services. Abandoned as a school in 1947, it is still used as a community center. Nearby lie the Ladore Cemetery and the log cabin built by Frank Myers to house children from outlying areas while school was in session.
