Named for its long central plaza and rows of small, low-ceilinged rooms, the Long House is second only to Cliff Palace ( MT28) in size. The “Great Kiva” is a large sunken court with five small rectangular, masonry-lined pits which may have been covered with animal skins for use as foot drums like those found in modern-day Pueblo Indian kivas in New Mexico.
