Samuel H. Kress's five-and-dime empire peaked at 264 stores, designed by an in-house architecture department. This Art Deco delight is yellow brick with poly-chrome terracotta trim and ornament, including modernistic Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep heads adorning the third-story frieze.
