The Holly Sugar Company opened this plant as its first and namesake location, only to move the machinery from here to Sheridan, Wyoming, in 1915. The company survives, but not in its hometown. The plant's brick buildings include a four-story rectangular silo and two processing buildings that exhibit attractive recessed paneling and corbeling. They were recycled as storage for the adjacent horse racing track, Gateway Downs.
