This false-fronted frame structure began life as a saloon and has now been returned to that function after serving as a pool hall and soft drink store during Prohibition. Since 1933 Michael and Emily Benedict have operated the one-story tavern as an unreformed nineteenth-century western saloon. The stark white lap siding and plate glass exterior open to a bare plank floor and paneled walls with a collection of stuffed animals, artifacts, and barroom art, trophies, and humor. One ornate Victorian bar is for drinking and the other is a lunch counter in this long and lean watering hole.
