Only rarely did pell-mell farm abandonment in New Castle County lead to adaptive reuse of agricultural buildings instead of destruction. This converted farmstead lies at the end of a little-used country road that now terminates at a bucolic county park. An old barn was converted into a bird hospital. Outside, wooden stairs lead up and around an old concrete silo to an elevated deck with a view down onto a warren of tin-roofed wooden aviaries, some on stilts. The naturalistic landscaping preserves the old-farm feeling.
