The two-story Guiberson house, with its low-pitched gable roof and end-wall chimney, reflects the continuation of the Greek Revival mode through much of the 1860s. As with a number of the limestone houses in and around Winterset, these dwellings may have been built by the local stonemason Caleb Clark. There are several other mid-nineteenth-century limestone houses on Fourth Avenue. These include the Kelso house (1866), at the southwest corner of Fourth Avenue South and Summit Street, and the Tiddrick house (c. 1856 and later), at the northwest corner of Fourth Avenue South and Washington Street. Caleb Clark's own small stone single-story cottage (1854) is situated at the south end of Eighth Avenue South.
