The stone Burlington Public Library building with its open tower was described in 1896 as “Italian Renaissance.” One would guess that the projecting hipped roofs and quoined corners were deemed Italian, but the building really reads as a late-1890s version of picturesque Beaux-Arts Classicism. The interior is well preserved and includes two fireplaces, mosaic floors, and a great deal of polished oak woodwork, as well as oak furniture.
