
From 1947 through 1951, the Lustron Corporation of Cicero, Ill., and Columbus, Ohio, manufactured and marketed their all-steel houses throughout the Midwest. It is surprising to note how many of these porcelain-enameled single-floor houses were bought and built throughout Iowa during these years. Though somewhat more expensive than built-on-the-site, wood-frame houses, they had the advantage of being constructed with great machine precision.
