The post office building is a polished, sophisticated exercise in the Beaux-Arts mode. The smooth, finely cut limestone has accentuated horizontal joints; the entrance, composed of three arches, is set behind a pair of engaged Ionic columns. The entablature, projecting cornice, and roof balustrade tie everything together and effectively terminate the structure. To the rear is a sympathetic addition of 1934.
