The curvilinear, picturesque pattern of streets in the suburban enclave of Castle Terrace was platted in 1892, but the area was not extensively developed until the 1920s. Many of the upper-middle-class period revival houses of the late twenties were built by the Curtis Woodworking Company. The image most frequently used was the medieval English or French. This particular stone and half-timber house is English Tudor, and it commands its wooded hilltop location.
