  • Beck House (David Gebhard and Gerald Mansheim)

A T-shaped two-story Italianate dwelling, this house has been transferred into the Gothic mode by an emphasis on vertical mass, steeply pitched roofs, and pronounced bargeboards. All of the usual Italianate features are here—round-arched windows, brackets supporting the eaves, segmental arched porches, and so on—but the building's height and the roof overcome these references to assert the Gothic.
