From the point of view of fashion, this vigorous, muscular version of the Richardsonian Romanesque should have been built in the late 1880s, not after 1900. At the base of the central six-story tower is a deep rusticated Richardsonian arch that serves as the principal entrance to the building. Windows and doors are deeply cut into the dark sandstone walls of the courthouse, and they appear even more pronounced because of their light buff-colored stone trim. Atop the steeply pitched hipped roof of the tower is a statue of Justice.
