The walls of this true-round barn (66 feet in diameter) are of rusticated concrete block. The concrete blocks used in the construction of the walls were molded on the farm itself. The conical wood roof is hipped into two planes, and the whole composition is terminated by a circular metal ventilator. Nearby, at 4119 South Main Street, is the Samuel Rownd house, built in the 1860s. This one-and-a-half-story house continues the early Greek Revival tradition, modified by Italianate details. The Rownd farm complex of house and outbuildings was illustrated in Andreas's 1875 volume (p. 83).
