Junior High School Building

-A A +A
1932, Jacobson and Jacobson. 500 Grand St.

The centerpiece of this Art Deco, pre-PWA public building is its two-story entrance with limestone details. Wide, layered, but only slightly projecting pilasters appear on each side of the doors. A pair of bronze “Roman” lanterns and their stands flank the entrance steps. The remainder of the two-story building is simply articulated by wide groups of windows providing natural light for the classrooms and other spaces.
