The architect of the Blanden Art Gallery chose the American Colonial for the style of his own brick-clad house. As with many architects of Colonial Revival houses of the years 1910–1920, Damon introduced a number of compatible but archaeologically incorrect features. These included the segmental arched roof for the entrance porch, pairs of long casement windows on the ground floor, and the composition of two double-hung windows placed together above the entrance porch.
