Rainbow Bridge

The triple-arched, 525-foot, concrete arched Rainbow Bridge spans the Raccoon River. This bridge, a type in which the roadbed is suspended from arches, is considered to be one of the finest of the Rainbow Bridges in Iowa. The structure was designed by the engineer James B. Marsh, and it was built by the Marsh Rainbow Bridge Company. A similar bridge (the Rock Valley Bridge, 1918), designed by the same engineer, is located 2.9 miles east of Marshalltown, just off US 30. It can be reached from Lytton by traveling east on US 20 to route N41, then south on N41 to Lake City; at the southwest corner of Lake City proceed south on N37 for 2.5 miles.
