In this instance, the “rational” desire for a square auditorium has lead to the design of a single boxlike form. Each of the facades has a false cornice that centers on a false pediment. The principal windows are round arched with wood mullions forming interior arches and circles. To bring a more decidedly architectural character to the building, its designer placed a pedimented temple with columns in antis at a 45-degree angle to the cross-street corner of the structure. Viewed from an angle, this pediment repeats the pattern of the two false pediments on the adjoining walls.
