A wood-frame mill formerly stood on this site and was the home of domet flannel, a substitute for linsey-woolsey undergarment fabrics, invented by Calvin Damon. After Damon died in 1854, his son Edward took over management of the mill. The building was completely destroyed by fire in 1862, and the current Italianate building erected in 1864. Worcester architect Elbridge Boyden used brick quoins throughout the complex. The building was purchased by the Mill Square Partnership in 1977 and converted to multicommercial, office, and light industrial use. It is now known as Damonmill Square.
