In this small, one-thousand-square-foot house on the main street just back from the Lake Michigan shoreline, the Chicago architects reduced the rural vernacular to simple terms and employed industrial stock materials. For their own weekend use, the house and outbuildings evoke the image of a farm with barn, shed, and granary. Tigerman and McCurry know this territory, and their designs for Chicagoans mark the small communities, shoreline, and rural farmland of Southwest Michigan.
