Situated on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, the Harper house exemplifies Wright's characteristics in the use of broad, sweeping, horizontal rooflines; the richness of the textural interplay of brick, cypress wood, and glass; the placement of the prominent chimney so that it acts as the hub around which the rooms are distributed; and the abundant use of glass to effect a welcome relationship between the exterior and the interior.
