This Gothic Revival church displays typical asymmetrical massing, window tracery, and a square, buttressed, and pinnacled corner bell tower. Rough-faced Bay Port limestone is laid in the exterior walls. The cruciform-plan interior has a reredos carved in 1923 by Alois Lang, a Grand Rapids craftsman and artist born in Oberammergau, Germany. The church was designed by Floeter (b. 1849) of Bay City. From Chatham, Ontario, he came to the United States in 1863 and to Bay City in 1881 to work in the office of Ernest W. Arnold. In 1886 Floeter designed the Madison Avenue Methodist Church (400 N. Madison Avenue), also Gothic Revival, but built of the locally manufactured yellow brick commonly used in this area. In 1924, a small chapel on the north of Trinity Episcopal Church was increased by adding a parish house designed by Smith, Hinchman and Grylls. It includes an auditorium and guild room.
