Chastian Mann, editor of the Calhoun County Patriot and Democratic Expounder, built this T-shaped brick Gothic Revival house. Its steeply pitched side-gable roof has a prominent central gable containing a double lancet window. Decorative lacy bargeboards and finials ornament all the gables. Side and transom lights surround the central entrance. The entrance is sheltered with a flat-roofed porch supported by open posts with curving supports and paired brackets.
