Benjamin Bradley (1843–1922), who moved to Midland from New York State in 1866, prospered from grocery and dry goods businesses and engaged in local political and civic affairs. He became president of the Midland Publishing Company and founder of an insurance company, Bradley and Arbury. Bradley's large, two-story, wood-frame Gothic Revival cottage measures 40 × 40 feet in plan. Fanciful bargeboards decorate the multiple gables and pointed-arched windows pierce the walls. In 1969 the Midland County Historical Society raised funds to save the house from demolition and move it into Emerson Park, on the Tittabawassee River. The home is restored and serves as a local museum.
