R. C. Labadie House (Menard Labadie House)
Underneath a house made comfortable and livable with a layer of aluminum siding exists one built with French Canadian maison colombage construction techniques. The one-and-a-half-story house has a slightly off-center door, a steeply pitched roof, and is oriented to La Plaisance Creek. At La Plaisance Bay, there once stood a settlement of these simple, log houses, some clapboarded and whitewashed, built by the French, the area's first settlers. Two others examples may be seen at 7044 and 7050 Dunbar Road (0.2 miles east of La Plaisance Road).
