This log movie theater continues the rustic tradition of northern Michigan, popularized on a grand scale at Houghton Lake by Johnson's Rustic Resort (now East Bay Lakefront Lodge, 1925; 135 12th Street, Prudenville) of main lodge (1925), cabins, convention hall, dining room, cocktail lounge, and recreation hall. The 450-seat theater resembles a hunter's cabin. Staghorn chandeliers light the lofty lobby and animal trophy mounts and skins decorate the walls of the trophy room. The current owner, Steve Frazer, attributes the design to famous Michigan theater designer C. Howard Crane.
