After erecting a log headquarters on this site in 1933 and seeing it burn to the ground the same year, local American Legion members rebuilt by June of 1934. Their one-story “hut” with brick end-wall chimneys is covered by a low, double-sloped hipped roof with small front- and side-facing gables and has a gallery, which wraps around most of three sides and is supported by paired log pillars. Set on brick piers, the Y-shaped, bracketed pillars carry log rafters. Log walls are saddle notched and are exposed externally at the front but are covered by vertical boards to the rear. Floors are planked, and internal log walls, roof trusses, and purlins are exposed. Large fireplaces have stone hearths and surrounds.
