Overstreet’s eclectic approach to historical and classical styles is on full display in this three-story brick building’s tripartite form, horizontal emphasis of the low hipped, red barrel-tile roof, wide eaves, and white terra-cotta classical detailing. The result is a building both imposing and accessible. The courthouse’s large lot is outlined on three sides by an iron bow-and-picket fence from Pullis and Bro. of St. Louis, erected originally for the preceding courthouse of 1853.
