Lindsley adopted Jacobean Revival for this three-story brick consolidated school, which drew students from a 115-square mile area. The T-plan form, with auditorium and gymnasium in the rear wing and classrooms in the front, had become established nationwide by the 1920s. White terra-cotta decorates the tall central pavilion, window hoods, and parapet. The windows, originally six-over-six wood sash, have been replaced with one-over-one metal sash. Terminating downtown’s Marion Avenue and set apart by a low, knee wall at the front sidewalk, the terraced site enhances the building’s monumentality.
