Niels Nielsen Barn

This distinctive agricultural building illustrates the popularity of precut kits to construct round barns at the turn of the twentieth century. Nielsen purchased the precut kit for approximately nine hundred dollars from the Chicago House Wrecking Company, and it was delivered by railroad to the Noonan townsite. The combination hay and dairy barn with a central silo is constructed of fourteen identical panels, each with a door and window. The barn’s gambrel roof is also in fourteen segments, and it terminates in a low cupola.
